The University of Murcia close the commemoration of its centennial with a concert to be held on December 17 in the Auditorium Victor Villegas, at 20:30, in which a selection of the oratorio "Messiah" will be interpreted, GF Handel, by the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, directed by Virginia Martinez and the University Choir of Murcia, directed by Jorge Losana.
The University Choir was founded in 1966 by Enrique Gonzalez Semitiel and its half-century history has played the most famous choral works, with tours abroad for Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and most of the Spanish geography.
In 2016, during his fifty years of life, with the participation of former members who wanted to join the group on this special occasion.
"Messiah" is an oratorio liturgical collecting in his script from the Annunciation of Christ's birth to his resurrection, structuring the text of librettist Charles Jenness in three acts drawn almost entirely from the Old Testament.
The concert is organized by the University of Murcia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities and the sponsorship of the Cajamurcia Foundation, part of the "Christmas with Cajamurcia".
Tickets are priced at 10 euros for the general public and 3 euros for students of the University of Murcia and conservatories.
