Publish a book that identifies all native trees and shrubs in the Region of Murcia (15/12/2015)

Charco Jesus Felix Carrillo, Francisco Alcaraz and Diego Rivera, the latter two professors from the Department of Plant Biology of the University of Murcia, are co-authors of a work that identifies all trees, shrubs, woody vines and native matillas Region Murcia.

The book, "Trees and shrubs native to the region of Murcia", which just hit the market, includes about 340 species with descriptions, photographs and distribution maps details, revealing and entertaining rigorous plant biodiversity native woody.

This guide some little-known species in the region are displayed and the local character of others that were generally considered non-native, such as the Iberian walnut and palm promenade, besides indicating the degree of administrative protection of those is justified .

The work, in the opinion of the authors, serves as both a teaching tool for environmental education, as working material for professional research, management and land use planning and environmental conservation.

"Our ultimate goal has been to create a useful tool for teaching, research, reforestation, forest hydrological regulation, restoration of degraded areas, environmental impact assessment, land use planning, urban planning and landscaping with native species "said Professor Diego Rivera.

The publication, published by the Center for Environmental Research in the Mediterranean and printed by the Autonomous Community, is the work of several years of teachers, scientists and technicians from universities, research centers and Promotion Office itself Socioeconomic Environment the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment.
