The Coral, who turns in 2016 fifty years since its foundation, has organized to kick off the celebrations, a reception for former directors of the organization on Friday December 11 at the Meeting of the Rector at 18'30 hours.
The University Choir was founded in 1966 by Enrique Gonzalez Semitiel, who led for twenty years.
Other directors were Juan Cano Conesa, Jose Luis Lopez Garcia, Cesar Palazón, Breis Mabel, Luis Egio Vallejo, Emilio Cano Molina and Carmen Contreras Fernandez and Jorge Losana, its current director.
Throughout its history it has come to interpret the most famous choral works, with tours abroad for Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and much of the Spanish geography.
In its half century of life, the repertoire of the University Choir of Murcia has included works of all styles and eras.
In 1995 and under the direction of Enrique Gonzalez Semitiel, University Choir recorded the CD "Magnificat" with the orchestra of the Conservatory of Music of Murcia, with works by Baroque composers Albinoni, Telemann and Zelenka.
Christmas special importance are interpretations of "The Messiah" by GF Handel, who were represented in Murcia from 1991-1995.
For many years he has participated in the International Festival of Youth Orchestras in Murcia, he collaborated with several national and foreign orchestras and prestigious directors such as Jaime Belda, José Miguel Rodilla, Eric Feldbusch, Manuel Hernández Silva, Thüring Bräm and Christos Polytzoides between others.
Directed by Jorge Losana since 2010, the choir has participated in many events and cultural events in the region of Murcia, including the International Festival of Youth Orchestras of Murcia.
He has also performed at the Festival Etnosur Alcalá la Real.
