On Monday November 30, 2015 marks a century exactly the solemn inauguration of the building Convalescence.
On a day like that, a hundred years ago, coinciding with the feast of St. Andrew, the building was solemnly inaugurated.
Since 1987 the building houses the Rector of the University of Murcia.
For the building they have passed writers and artists, ambassadors, presidents, businessmen and politicians, who have highlighted the close relationship with the company of a centuries University.
And besides all this, it has been the workplace of numerous professionals from the University of Murcia for more than five decades, like the six chancellors teams during this time the government of Murcia's main research institution.
Jose Antonio Rodriguez was the municipal architect in charge ran the project and the direction of it.
The architect had already done six years before the Casa Diaz Cassou, and almost simultaneously made the Convalescence House Nine floors.
The building underwent a thorough renovation in the 80s, led by architect Manuel Garcia Cerdan and, in June 1987, the team of Antonio Soler Rector and various offices began moving into convalescence.
In his nearly 30 years as the seat of the Rector of the University of Murcia, on its premises they were held thousands of protocol events, academic and cultural initiatives, and have made known to society, through the press, the events more many related to the academic world.
For the building have passed personalities from the world of science and literature, ambassadors, presidents, businessmen and politicians, personalities have highlighted the great value to society of a century University.
Today, convalescence, stands for University of Murcia.
And interestingly, its origins go back to the same historical moment: both have held its centenary this year, the institution of studies in October, and the building of the Rectory in November.
