Change Murcia wants to express its support for the #NoEnNuestroNombre campaign that has collected so far, more than 20,000 signatures and has called for demonstrations in many cities against terrorism, Islamophobia and its wars.
We think as training municipalist committed to democracy and human rights are obliged to take a stand against the possible consequences of the brutal attacks in Paris last November 13.
Terrorism can not achieve its objective and increase walls of suspicion and hatred between those who live in peace in our neighborhoods and districts.
We can not allow barbarism of a few difficult coexistence in a city like ours, which has been characterized by the good relationship among all its neighbors, regardless of their culture, religion or country of origin.
We therefore call on the responsibility to institutions, parties and the media, to avoid criminalizing people fleeing the horror, war and barbarism for the sake of clothing or think differently.
In addition, we believe now is precisely when to make a greater effort from our City Council to promote the integration of those who have come to our city looking to improve their life expectancy.
Now is the time to show, increasing social measures and promoting multiculturalism, that Murcia is a city capable of hosting proudly Three Cultures.
Also, people who are part of Murcia's change firmly oppose the bombings in Syria which affect mostly civilians, and have proved ineffective, causing only more hatred, more intolerance, more innocent deaths and curtailing rights and freedoms.
On the contrary, at this time we worry about hosting and providing a future for refugees from the violence.
For all described, we will join any movement to convene in our town against terrorism, Islamophobia and its wars.
Neither cuts freedoms and the bombing will bring us security and peace.
Not in our name.
