The City of Murcia, through the Department of Planning, Environment and Huerta, who heads Antonio Navarro Corchón, has awarded two schools that meet certain environmental requirements, through awareness and implementation of actions aimed to improve the environment, adding to the 21 that already have it.
Specifically, the two centers have received the distinction of 'Green Schools' are the school Our Lady of Atocha, located in Murcia and the school Sculptor González Moreno, in the hamlet of Aljucer, since, according to the head of the Environment, " both have achieved their environmental objectives, working with great enthusiasm and with a high degree of participation. The school Our Lady of Atocha, participates in this program since the academic year 2008 and 2009, and during that time, have been actively involved with the whole school community.
As indicated by the Councillor for the Environment, "they have done a good waste management center, directed and coordinated by the green patrols and have organized conferences and cultural weeks devoted to the issue of waste and use of water".
On the other hand, the school Aljucer Sculptor González Moreno, participated since the 2010-11 academic year.
Initially launched an action plan to reduce, reuse and recycle the waste generated at the center, it is a clear example that stopped using aluminum as wrap their sandwiches.
