Micol Angeles reports that the Department of Traffic prioritize the interests of an industry on all residents
NOW MURCIA and the Association of Residents of the village of Catalan have registered today in the Department of Traffic over 400 signatures against the project to adapt Road in Vereda del Catalán in Santa Cruz (Murcia) introduced last July 1 by the commercial Corral Children SA Now Murcia and the neighborhood association estimates that the project may be unlawful and complain that this company is creating traffic problems due to the passage of their heavy vehicles.
The association and now Murcia believe the neighbors would be harmed by the project because of the works, expropriation, deforestation, piping of a ditch and disappearance of much-needed parking spaces that currently exist throughout the Vereda del Catalan, "among other annoyances that entail a project that apparently aims only to favor one company for allegedly installed illegal part in a residential ground floor and part of Huerta in the planning does not allow it," said the mayor Now Micol Angeles to Murcia.
La Vereda del Catalán is a road about five meters wide with homes in both margins, by which, according to a traffic study of the City of Murcia, circulating more than 130 heavy trucks refrigerators a day.
For this reason, in May 2015 the installation of a signal limiting tonnage for safety reasons it was decreed, placing the appropriate sign, but only a month later and not based on any technical report signal was withdrawal, claiming that such a signal the company is harmed.
Given the legal action taken by the neighbors, which now claims the company along with the city of Murcia is making a redevelopment of the Vereda legalize over the many heavy vehicles, for which there has been a draft amendment the Vereda.
The victims estimate that the works included in the project, besides being very harmful to the neighbors, are not necessary, since it would be sufficient with the installation of limited tonnage in the Vereda del Catalán, and further considering the report Traffic August 16, 2002, which stipulates that licensing does not presuppose changing traffic signs or any other municipal facility and furniture, as well as the geometric layout that defines the street.
The limitation of tonnage Vereda, on the other other hand, was withdrawn without the mandatory technical reports, based solely on the decision of a council (Javier Iniesta Alcazar) and Traffic Director (José Luis Giménez Montero) so which may have preferential treatment by administration officials to the commercial, plus it can be not lawful.
Now Murcia and the Association of Residents of the village of the Catalan also claim that soil disturbance in the public domain on the basis of a commercial project is intended, which would mean a change in the General Plan of Murcia, as it completely alters the vial the Vereda del Catalán.
"Something that is unthinkable," says Micol, "and that the exercise of the commercial activity Corral Children in the village of Catalan and installation of the warehouse are appealed to the Action Service (Expte. 983/2012 ) and before the administrative courts by neighbors, as contrary to the law.
