Fabio Pigozzi, President of the International Federation of Sports Medicine, Doctor Honoris Causa by the UCAM (06/10/2015)

Fabio Pigozzi (Rome, December 22, 1958), president of the International Federation of Sports Medicine and Rector of the University "Foro Italico" of Rome, will be awarded honorary doctorates by the UCAM on Thursday 8 October.

The event will take place in the temple of Jeronimos Monastery at 11:30.

Professor Pigozzi is a leading figure on the international level in the field of sports medicine.

Throughout his professional and academic career he has held important positions among which are: director of the Medical Centre of Excellence FIFA in Rome;

Member of the Commission of Health, Medical and Research World Anti-Doping Agency;

or member of the Italian National Health Council, among others.

In his lengthy professional and academic curriculum emphasizes his appointment as professor professor honoris causa by the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) or the authorship of more than two hundred publications in international journals with high impact factor.

His research specialty is the cardiovascular response to exercise, physical medicine and rehabilitation, human nutrition and the fight against doping.

Pigozzi has worked or collaborated in the highest institutions of the world of sport and health, highlighting the International Olympic Committee, the European Federation of Sports Medicine Associations and the European Federation of Sports Medicine.

He also participated actively as head of Medical Services and Doping Control in the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Turin 2006.
