HM King Philip VI will preside on Wednesday, the 30th, the opening ceremony of the course 2015/2016 Spanish universities, to be held at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Murcia (UMU), in a joint ceremony with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
The event, held at the University of Murcia on the occasion of its centenary, attended by the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, Inigo Mendez de Vigo, and the presidents of the Community, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, and the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver, as well as other authorities.
Guiding thirty Spanish universities will also participate in the national college course opening.
The event also will include representatives of students, teaching and research staff and administration and services of the two public universities.
The arrival of His Majesty is scheduled at 11:30 am, where the Faculty of Economics and Business, Espinardo campus, you will find a commemorative plaque.
The ceremony will begin with the intervention of the general secretaries of the UMU and UPCT, Santiago Alvarez and Maria del Carmen Pastor, respectively, who will read the academic year 2014/2015 memory.
Then Jose Carrion, Professor of Botany at the University of Murcia, will deliver the lecture: "Extinctions and exceptions The power of rarity in evolution.".
After the speech the rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, King closed the act and declared opened the academic year.
Moreover, yesterday, September 29, at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Murcia, Campus de la Merced, will be held from 9:30 am, a forum on the social value of the University, organized by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE).
