80% of youth employment, education or resume their training at the end of the professional qualification program taught by the City (23/09/2015)

The Mayor held a meeting this morning with three former students who, at the end of the course, have launched their own business, found jobs or continued their education.

The program provides professional certificates eleven young people who can not be integrated into a regular educational program or enter the labor market.

Ballesta stressed the social value of a plan that "provides another opportunity to improve not only their academic and professional training, but also on a personal level, developing maturity, self-esteem, social skills and labor".

Not all young people completing compulsory secondary education, but this does not mean in any way that lack of alternatives to carve out a future career.

One such way is the 'First Professional Qualification "program, whose main task is precisely to provide these boys and girls the opportunity to receive specific training for a trade or, if they so choose, continue studies in different teachings.

It is to achieve real and satisfactory employment, initiating appropriate professional project.

Ensuring that these goals can be achieved it is revealed by analyzing the results reflecting the program in previous years, when, at the end of the course, about 80% of students choose to continue studies and between 10% and 18% find a job.

In some cases, even promote their own businesses.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councillor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesus Pacheco, and the councilman of Youth and Development Cooperation, Rebeca Perez, held this morning a meeting three former students who, after completing the program They have found a way out: one, Cristina Ramos, 23, launched his business in the district of San Andrés and is now co-owner of a hairdressing salon;

Small groups and placements

In October starts a new course, which will involve up to 165 young people, groups of up to 15 students in order to offer personalized attention.

After meeting with alumni, the Mayor has highlighted the important social role played by public authorities to provide specific training programs for young people leaving school without obtaining any certification.

With plans like this, he said, "find another opportunity to improve not only their academic and professional training, but also a personal and social level, developing and strengthening its maturity, self-esteem, personal and social skills and finally, labor skills".

Ballesta explained that "the current labor market situation is very complex, especially for young people, and the situation gets worse if they lack academic qualifications or vocational training."

"Our society demands higher qualifications every day to perform a job as well as a greater ability to adapt to changes in both the performance of the tasks and the nature of the profession", said the Mayor, who He also stressed that "in many cases the deficits of training that the students who leave the educational system are creating an almost impenetrable barrier to access to employment".

The "First Vocational Training" program provides precisely the necessary training that allows students to "integrate effectively in society and providing access to a skilled labor life."

Training nearly 3,000 young

The City Council makes such programs since 1992 under different names, from "Formative Guarantee" to "social guarantee '(until 2002)," Introduction to Professional Employment "(until 2008) and, finally," Initial Vocational Training " (until last year).

In the almost five decades they have created 203 groups where 2,817 students have been trained in various specialties, with the collaboration of more than 300 companies in the municipality for the experiments.

All courses offered satisfactory results, since about 80% of students said they intended to go back to school and, despite the current employment situation, almost 10% had a job at the end of their practices.
