The rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, visited the facilities that the Down Syndrome Foundation has Fundown Cabezo de Torres, in which people with intellectual disabilities live with able-bodied young people, students of the educational institution mostly .
Orihuela inaugurated the course of shared housing program and said the collaboration of university volunteers in it is a matter of "pride" for the University.
The rector showed the commitment of the institution he presides with the program, which in its years of operation is yielding very positive results in the development of the personal autonomy of disabled youth, and mediators satisfaction.
In the coming months, the University of Murcia and Fundown will develop research to analyze the characteristics and capabilities of the mediators, as well as the results obtained by them in the academic, professional and personal level.
