The bike will have more chances to win leadership in mobility in the Spanish cities.
This has been one of the objectives it has approved this morning by the plenary of the FEMP a proposal of the government team of the City of Murcia.
9 amendments to resolutions raised in the areas of sustainability and territory, social rights and modernization of Directors have received the unanimous support of the Spanish municipalities present at the XI Plenary of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
Representing the City Council he has been led by the Mayor, José Ballesta, who attended the meeting accompanied by several councilors.
The resolutions adopted at the initiative of Murcia to promote the use of bicycles have included the introduction of measures such as the construction of cycle paths, the traffic calming projects, secure bicycle parking areas, national biciregistro and promotion campaigns urban mobility by bicycle.
It has also given its approval for the amendment to assist the Spanish Network of Cities for the Bicycle in all issues concerning urban planning in terms of sustainable mobility and urban cycling road safety.
A proposal of Murcia, the Plenary of the FEMP has also agreed to promote the application of criteria designed to gradually reduce the need for motorized travel in sustainable urban mobility plans in cities and to support and promote adhesion of municipalities to the Covenant of Mayors, to support the territories in their struggle to anticipate and adapt to the effects of climate change, in line with the Mayor's Adapt initiative of the European Union.
In the table on the issues of sustainability, land, transportation and infrastructure, in addition to these four questions, Murcia has led two other amendments that have been accepted: the involvement of municipalities to implement all accessibility criteria in their buildings or in the facilities under their jurisdiction, as a means to promote, disseminate and extend the accessibility to the rest of society, thus showing a greater commitment;
also it has been involved in the FEMP initiatives to promote rational use of water and devote efforts to sensitize the public about it.
The measures relating to social rights, two have been suggestions promoted by the city of Murcia who have received the unanimous approval: first, the introduction of the concept of family reconciliation policies, incorporating plans economic and social support to the family;
Moreover, measures related to equal treatment and non-discrimination, support for children, adolescents and adults and most vulnerable segments specified.
