This morning was held in the Business Incubator UCAM Catholic University San Antonio a first meeting for the launch of Banco Santander Chair UCAM-oriented, entrepreneurial activities and research in the agri-food sector, and coordinated through the ITM Institute of Technology University.
The same groups have attended as Proexport, Fecoam, Apoexpa and Ailimpo, who have shared table by the Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment, Juan Hernandez;
the Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache;
Vice Chancellor of the UCAM, Estrella Nunez;
the Executive Director of ITM, Sofia Fernandez;
and the Regional Director of Banco Santander, Luis Rodriguez de la Fuente, among others.
With the ultimate aim of creating a joint work plan for this first exercise of the Chair, which will have a four-year overall duration, it has established the creation of a technical committee and an open dialogue in which they have pooled concerns as the "zero waste management" postharvest treatment, new research, and policy and legislative issues, vital for proper dynamics of the sector.
All these challenges will be specified in future joint actions aimed at consolidating the market, opening up new destinations and launching new products through technological momentum, as the value added to production and as an effective tool to achieve a position in a globalized market.
The director Juan Hernandez summarized these interventions emphasizing the "importance of the connection between the university and the company, in order to develop a research actually applied to market."
Adela Martinez-Cacho, meanwhile, recorded that "regional government is important to hear first hand the demands of different sectors, in particular in the food, in order to develop policies tailored to their needs" for the
