The exhibition, which will run over the next six months, shows the relationship between mathematics and art.
It includes a fun journey of exploration and discovery, a showcase with 3D figures, sculptures with a very particular geometry and even solves one of the most famous mathematical games.
The world can be easily understood if seen with a mathematical look that frees you from the complexity.
This is at least the sense that saves and wants to convey the exhibition "RSME - Imaginary" which in the coming months can be seen in the Museum of Science and Water.
It is a traveling exhibition created by mathematical Institute Oberwolfach for the Year of Mathematics in Germany in 2008, which was inaugurated this afternoon by the mayor, José Ballesta, along with the president of the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society, Antonio Campillo, and the Councillor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesus Pacheco.
The purpose of the exhibition, which has already covered more than 60 cities in Germany, Austria, France, Ukraine, Switzerland, Argentina, Poland, Colombia, Panama, Spain, Portugal, Serbia, Russia and the United States, you show displays, interactive installations , virtual reality, 3D objects and their theoretical background in algebraic geometry and singularity theory in an attractive and easy to understand.
The result is the fruit of international participation of mathematicians and artists seeking to generate curiosity and interest in math and encourage visitors to interact with the exhibits to create their own work of art mathematics.
To do this, anyone approaching the Museum of Science and Water will find 40 large sheets of different shapes and their mathematical explanations, may participate in a fun journey of exploration and discovery through different surfaces and discover a showcase with 3D figures with spectacular forms.
The exhibition also offers the opportunity to solve one of the most famous mathematical games: the bridges of Konigsberg, which consists of crossing all bridges of a city without passing twice for the same.
Of course, in the room you will also find a shop math games.
