Councilman Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesus Pacheco, explained that the City Council will convene an open international tender for professionalizing the artistic management of the three theaters and five municipal auditoriums, to be elected by a court composed of representatives of the university, theater companies and other associations
Through this initiative, the performing arts of the municipality will have the figure of an artistic director who will be responsible for improving coordination between the different spaces.
"Each of the areas will gradually acquiring its own personality addressing a particular segment of the population," Pacheco stated.
The artistic director will also make a master plan for the Performing Arts 2016-2019 to establish the current situation of the sector and aims to follow and generate in the city a specific industry related to the theater that also enables the creation of employment, lighting technicians, decorators, set designers, dressmakers ...
The new organization will allow, in addition, there is greater independence since theaters will no longer be managed by any office except by a professional chosen by public tender.
This management model is already in place in cities like Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, ​​Toronto, Sydney or New York.
