Murcia will be the first municipality in the region which will have an accessibility plan adapted to the new state and regional regulations.
The Accessibility Plan will connect all the sections for a person with physical, mental or sensory disabilities, can move smoothly through the town.
Almost 200,000 have been earmarked for the completion of the necessary work for the first route, which runs from the station to the Sanatorium Carmen Our Lady of Bethlehem, meets current accessibility standards.
So Murcia will be the first municipality in the region which will have an accessibility plan adapted to the new state and regional regulations.
There are four routes in the city vertebral completing the Municipal Accessibility Plan as adopted by the Board of Governors to make Murcia a more "accessible" municipality, two routes north-south and two east-west.
The first route, which will run over a period of five months, will start in the railway station of El Carmen and continue through the streets that communicate the Carmelite Church, the Old Bridge, tax office, Fuensanta Square, Plaza Circular, Hospital Morales Meseguer, Abenarabi building and the hospital of Our Lady of Bethlehem.
In this way, existing architectural barriers in the different routes will be eliminated, which will mean the displacement of street furniture, traffic lights, street lights, pedestrian fords modification, installation of warning devices, widening sidewalks and modifying longitudinal pending in those points along the route where the requirements of the current law are not met accessibility.
Among the four routes it was established points of contact of about 60 attractions, among which are government buildings, sports facilities, cultural, churches, hospitals and health centers.
The aim is that all four sections are 100 percent accessible, both public roads as all buildings of interest that are in each itinerary.
