Three out of four women survivors three to five years to breast cancer have altered their quality of life, according to the conclusions of the doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Murcia by Paula Ruiz Carreño.
Quality of life, this research adds that it has obtained a rating of outstanding cum laude, is affected by the problems experienced in the arm, in its physical state and dissatisfaction with his image.
Also influence the emotional state, social and sexual functioning and the problems of the breast itself, added the conclusions of the doctoral thesis.
The analysis of the sample, composed of 120 women with breast cancer, collected all of them have one or more sequels, even mild, and over eighty percent suffer from arm problems, impaired physical condition and bad emotional state.
The study notes that because the prognosis of this disease has improved markedly in recent years as the current survival is high, the process itself and the treatments applied are important personal effects and family.
The thesis was supervised by professors from the University of Murcia Maria Pilar Almansa and Matilde Campos.
