He has already made a previous study with 201 athletes and the next step will be the experimental phase to deepen the possible solutions to this problem.

This study is based on two points: first, the daily requirement for training and competitions that undergoes tremendous 'psychological pressure' to elite athletes;

and secondly, the role of emotional intelligence, understood as a set of skills that people have to understand and regulate emotions, which is a key to properly handle everyday stress and psychological pressure tool.

In the preliminary investigation we were evaluated on a sample of 201 athletes.

It was also shown that a low level of perseverance or self-imposed, associated with a high level of emotional clarity may encourage the emergence of symptoms of emotional exhaustion.

In addition, it was observed that an athlete with a good emotional stability and low attendance may also have a greater tendency to burnout.

The researcher Maria Isabel Jimenez believes that, with specific support based on the characteristics of the personality and emotional intelligence, an athlete could learn to better handle the psychological pressure and improve performance, "Analyzing the profile of an athlete, we can work on a specific advice plan aimed at self-regulate their emotions and thus improve their athletic performance, reducing its tendency to burnout. It should work motivation and emotional intelligence to improve the wellbeing and athletic performance. "
