The rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, today expressed the hope that political changes resulting from the last elections result in increased funding for the institution he presides.
Orihuela has made this reflection to the Senate, which met in regular session in the auditorium on the campus of Mercy, before which has made a tour of the most important activities carried out by his team since the previous plenary session in December last.
The president reiterated that receives insufficient funding the University of Murcia and has also referred to the content of multi-year funding delivered to the regional executive and the representatives of the political parties participating in the elections.
In particular, it pointed out that in regard to the funding per student, the University of Murcia is well below the national average, adding that the plan was very well received by all parties except the PP.
José Orihuela has also referred to the major awards received these months by the university, as the national award the inclusion of Telefonica, the Gold Medal of the region to the faculties of law and Chemistry and the Max Theatre Award.
Nor he has forgotten to cite the award of the Best of The Truth and Jaime I Prize awarded to Professor Artal.
