The Governing Council of the University of Murcia, which met today in ordinary session in the building of convalescence, has received a report from the manager, Francisco José Pérez Guzmán, in which treasury surplus situation is analyzed end 2014 and the current situation of the institution.
The manager has stated that although for accounting purposes the remaining amounts to 73.5 million euros, that does not mean that it is money from the University to dispose freely because, he said, the largest item of the same , 51.2 million corresponds to the debt of the region.
So he explained that really what the institution had in the banks at the end of 2014 only amounted to 27.7 million euros, and the remaining 22 million are affected in order to allocate to the corresponding funding.
In addition, he said, the University of Murcia, for its own operation, you need to have some cash remaining spending power go ahead financed projects.
The level of liquid funds, added the manager, really only gives a margin to make payments for one or two months.
The document also states that the current economic situation of the University is not good and that is underfinanced, among other reasons, because the autonomous region has decreased by 40 million euros from 2010 registered grant, having reached the status of that provision It does not even cover the amount of the payroll.
It also takes into account the need to undertake necessarily actions that increase spending, as the Lecture Hall on the campus of Health Sciences, the opening of the Pleiades and Vitalis buildings and the rebuilding of the templates of Teachers, to lower high percentage of partners, among others.
The rector, José Orihuela, expressed his hope that after the elections last Sunday, a new period of dialogue in which it is possible to reach agreements to achieve the multi-year funding plan that the institution needs to open.
