The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, has delivered this morning to the presidents of the 76 Social Centres for the Elderly of the Municipality signed agreements for the adequate provision of services for these institutions and will allow the optimal development and implementation of activities and programs aimed at the promotion and welfare of the elderly people.
Through this agreement, the City of Murcia agrees to bear the cost of water, electricity and other supplies necessary for the proper functioning of the centers, in addition to grant the use of furniture, fixtures and instrumental material.
In addition, it will provide each center of an allowance as a subsidy that allows the development of its annual program of activities.
These agreements stipulate that associations that manage Senior Centers must comply with the laws in force and maintain in perfect conditions the assigned premises.
On the other hand, facilitate membership as a partner of those entitled to be, by law, and may not perform work that affect the structure or layout of the premises.
The Municipality of Murcia currently has 76 Senior Centers that comprise one of the largest municipal networks in the country.
Of these, 64 are districts and 12 neighborhoods.
These centers bring together the social and cultural life of older people and their 32,000 members are responding to their needs and improve their quality of life.
