239 athletes from 29 countries will meet in Murcia on Sunday to participate in the European Cup XI in Road March, held for the first time in Spain.

The competition will be held at the Gran Vía, a distance of 1 kilometer, in schedule from 8.00 to 19.00.

Murcia has experience in hosting major sporting events and has already twice hosted the championship in Spain Walking Route.

In addition, Murcia has a representative of exception, the walker Miguel Angel Lopez, European Champion 2014 in Zurich, bronze medalist in the 2013 World Cup in 20 km walk and best Spanish athlete of the year in 2012, 2013 and 2014. 20 % of the Spanish team gear is Murcia.

Councilman Sports City of Murcia, Miguel Cascales;

President of the Athletics Federation of Murcia, Juan Molina;

and the Director General of Sports, Antonio Peñalver, participated in the presentation of the European Cup Race Walking.

Cascales stressed that the competition puts Murcia in the first sports line and has long been working for this event to be held in Murcia.
