Mayor House signed an agreement to strengthen protection for victims of gender violence (27/04/2015)

The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Angel House, and the Minister of Health and Social Policy, Catherine Lorenzo Gabarron, this morning signed a collaboration agreement for strengthening the protection and comprehensive assistance to victims of domestic violence in the Municipality of Murcia.

The agreement will promote and strengthen the work of the Unit Psychological First Aid (UPAP) of the Association of Civil Protection Volunteers.

Among other initiatives, the City of Murcia provide counseling services and support, in the territory of the Municipality, on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year, open from 9.00 to 21.00, to women victims of violence gender, derived by Device Urgent Call Centre for Battered Women 112. This counseling will be extended, if necessary, to the sons and daughters minors by women.

The agreement also stipulates that the city of Murcia will select up to 25 people, professional psychology, professionals trained in emergency and crisis intervention for the provision of that service.

For its part, the Ministry will provide training to volunteers from the UPAP for a period of 20 hours, to be held for 4 Saturdays distributed over two months.

This training will include content related to the protocol for action in cases of child abuse for situations that may arise in a case of domestic violence and that affect children minors by the victim.
