Musical Youth Association of Cabeza de Torres, AMJCT, premiering this Sunday, the 19th, the Spanish version of 'Once Upon a Time' by the Belgian composer Jan Van der Roost, in the Romea Theatre, from 20.00.
The work, composed in 2013 and premiered in the German version ('Es war einmal') on September 29 of that year, is a 'Singspiel', a kind of operetta music becomes several fragments of the tales of the Brothers Grimm, joined by a storyline.
Some of the stories that appear throughout the opera, which lasts about an hour and ten minutes, are universal classics like Sleeping Beauty and Little Red Riding Hood.
'Once Upon a Time' will be staged by the symphonic band, which will feature 100 musicians, 125 children's choir Alba components Box of Cartagena and the actors of the theater group of Alfandarín Cultural Association Cabeza de Torres, who will perform to different classic tale characters.
In addition, Van der Roost address the symphonic band in the first part, which will ring some of his best known works such as 'Puszta' and 'Yokohama Festival Overture'.
Tickets can be purchased at the box office the Romea Theatre or through the online platform 'Ticketmaster', with prices ranging from 6 to 12 euros.
The event marks the second collaboration of the prestigious Belgian composer and conductor with the band head of Torres, after in 2012 and directed a concert to inaugurate the Nebrija Scenic Area, the school theater Antonio Nebrija of Cabeza de Torres, in which two of his works, 'From Ancient Times', unpublished at that time in Spain, and 'Rikudim' were interpreted.
Van der Roost (1956 Duffel) is a professor at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven (Belgium), along with special guest professor at Shobi Institute of Music in Tokyo, guest Nagoya University of Arts professor and visiting professor at Senzoku Gakuen in Kawasaki, all on Japanese soil.
Besides being a prolific composer, he is one of those most requested judge, lecturer and guest conductor, which has taken him to over 40 countries on four continents.
His compositions have been broadcast on radio and television in many countries and most have been recorded on CD by renowned artists from around the world.
The AMJCT, currently composed of some 100 musicians and directed by Andrés Pérez Barnabas, started in 1982 and since then has participated in numerous festivals and concerts in the Region of Murcia, Valencia, Galicia, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia.
In recent years he has won numerous awards, including first prize in the first section of the XVIII National Contest of Bands of Murcia (2008);
second prize in the first section in the LX National Competition of Bands "City of Cullera ', Valencia (2008);
first prize at the III International Contest of Bands of Torrevieja, Alicante (2009);
second prize at the International Competition of Bands Villa de Altea, Alicante (2011), and first prize in the first section of Ciudad de Murcia last contest held last November.
