For this, has commissioned Urbamusa, through the Department of Culture, the rehabilitation project of the building with the aim of making it a great museum space dedicated specifically to contemporary sculpture.
The Mayor explained that the initiative will be developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities and Gabarron -the Foundation Gabarrón Foundation International, which in the Region of Murcia works through the House Graffiti mule Foundation.
The proposal twofold.
For one thing, it is that this space once rehabilitated, is dedicated to contemporary sculpture sample, with particular attention to African art.
Moreover, and in addition, will be transformed into a scenario where workshops and classrooms to promote national and international artists, so Murcia, in the cultural sphere, continue consolidating its presence abroad.
As explained by the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, it will be a performance that will incorporate the Barrio del Carmen, and all the space of the old Artillery Barracks, promotion and dissemination of cultural events, providing an infrastructure and cultural facilities powerful conducive to artistic creativity.

Parallel to the rehabilitation of this pavilion Artillery Barracks, the City also plans to recover other spaces like the old provincial jail, and consolidating the Museum of Modern Art set in the environment of Levante Park.
