Councilman UPyD recalls that the capital of the region is one of the four Spanish cities near Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia where the allowable threshold for nitrogen dioxide emitted by vehicles exceeded, according to 2013
Ruben Juan Serna, spokesman for Progress and Democracy Union in the Consistory and candidate for mayor of the City of Murcia, states that "it is necessary to address the problem of traffic pollution by promoting public means of transport instead of private cars."
"This involves the devolution in transport, the creation of a municipal transport company that manages all lines of the municipality, to establish a single ticket and proceed to new park and ride locations of entrances to Murcia, and coordinated with public transport ".
"The goal," notes Serna, "must be a city with fewer cars, but offering solutions."
Councilman UPyD recalls that the capital of the region is one of the four Spanish cities near Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia where the allowable threshold for nitrogen dioxide emitted by vehicles exceeded, according to data from 2013.
It also points out the problems UPyD transport and mobility of people who live in the districts, "and worst feature combinations, schedules and vehicles, frequencies, travel times and vehicles, in addition to paying a higher price."
Furthermore, there should be more control than is being done at present, increasing the number of measurement stations, as those in Sewer-Murcia and in the neighborhood of the town of San Basilio "are insufficient for all the urban agglomeration of Murcia capital and its surroundings ".
You also need to increase the number of existing bike lanes and are interconnected, to provide the city with a real network of ciclabes way.
Thus, "serve to connect for different industrial estate as well as the different business areas", thereby achieving a reduction in the use of vehicles and thereby reducing pollutant emissions.
Serna insists that such measures to tackle pollution of the city, which is the product of the gases produced by the movement of vehicles, such as, nitrogen dioxide, small particles, benzene, toluene, and indirectly tropospheric ozone should be set.
