The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Angel House, has supported and given its support to the creation of the Network of Cities for Transparency and Citizen Participation agreement made today by the Governing Board of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
The objective pursued by this initiative is to promote the continuous improvement of the relationship between local governments and citizens under the principles of Open Government and through the exchange of experiences and project development.
This is to strengthen the commitment of municipalities with honesty and integrity in governance, adapting to the public sphere mechanisms that are increasingly common in the private sector.
In this sense, the FEMP has signed a collaboration agreement with AENOR that requires the preparation of a Reference as to identify the requirements and objectives that will enable local authorities to implement a management system based on the principles of good governance, proportionality , transparency and sustainability.
This Reference will establish a standard of quality and, through compliance programs, municipalities to implement it in its operation may be certified by AENOR, which will give them a plus recognition in this field.
