Councilman IU-Greens in Murcia, José Ignacio Tornel, has filed a motion to Parliament next Thursday urging the council to design an action plan on building facades aimed at the enhancement of urban spaces.
Tornel explained that the initiative aims to change the role of the council in the face of this action, going to offer a grant pending petitions from individuals to propose directly to the owners the opportunity to undertake works on its facade.
In his view, this proposal should be justified on public interest criteria and be accompanied by a number of conditions and facilities that make it attractive to homeowners.
Among these criteria, the mayor stressed the decision of the council involved to value the building and the urban context in which it is located, which involves designing specific plans for each urban area of ​​concern that justifies the interest of acting on the building.
The purpose of this proposal is not confined to the aesthetic level, but addresses the need to deepen the quality of life for residents through improvements in energy efficiency and sound and thermal insulation, among others.
According Tornel, the plan for each area should include economic and trade possibilities, particularly with respect to the support of small businesses, as well as a set of measures to facilitate access for owners of private buildings such actions.
"This proposal also contributes to economic activation of the municipality, since it involves generating employment in a collective of skilled workers in activities related to construction."
