The Councillor for Culture, Rafael Gomez, inaugurated this morning the new sculptor Diego Mirete, located in the Plaza of the Constitution of the Infante Juan Manuel neighborhood.
The piece, titled Naked, is a tribute to the Murcia woman renowned author described as "a strong tribute to the beauty of Murcia, acclaimed for centuries by so many authors."
The ceremony was also attended by a large representation of the District Board, led by its President, Asunción Esteve Candel.
The sculptor and painter Diego Tormos Mirete born in the hamlet of Murcia Rincón de Seca in 1948. He studied at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts Murcia and soon began a career that has been enriched with dozens of works in the most varied techniques and topics, among them the figure of women and children, symbols related to his hometown and, most especially, for portraits in clay.
With countless solo and group exhibitions, the author achieved popularity after the creation of various works for the city, among which are monuments to honor the huertanos, the traditional blessing of animals of San Antón and other busts dedicated to illustrious Murcia .
A renowned author
At present, the work of Mirete can be admired in the Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia, Murcia City Council and various private collections Spanish and in other locations such as Canada, USA, Britain and Germany.
Regarding the works exhibited in the street, Diego Mirete is the author of the monument to Jose Moreno in the CP of the same name in Murcia, Monument Romero Buenaventura in Puerto Lumbreras., Memorial Dr. Madrazo in Vega de Pas (Santander) Mural in Repriss (Santander), Christ and Mural "Entombment of Christ".
