Roundabouts of the North Coast with Avenida Juan Carlos I and access to the A-7 from the UCAM will be safer, paying special attention to cyclists (04/02/2015)

The Department of Traffic and Transportation continues to improve road safety in roundabouts of the town, running the second phase of Mobisec project.

If in the first part of this initiative Bowers intersection N-301 road Alcayna of Highway Alcayna up to the New Condomina Stadium, Ronda Sur intersection with Avenue Dolores and were adapted street of Espinardo with Rocamora Avenue, now the turn of which lies at the intersection of North Avenue Costera with Juan Carlos I and access to the A-7 from UCAM.

What is intended is to adapt these to safer for all users, especially for road cycling facilities.

The roundabout at the intersection of North Avenue Costera with Juan Carlos I (N-301) has high traffic intensity and considerable slope, in addition to the North Coast has a bike lane width 2.50 m entire length, which is why it is important to strengthen the security of the roundabout

Therefore, the work to improve road safety will include:

or Mark the intersection to a maximum speed of 30 km / h,

or vertical signs with LED lighting itself to give greater visibility type.

or existing signals are changed by other equally illuminated by LED but also to give greater visibility to the whole of the two signals

or (no light) signals conventional vertical speed limit of 40 km / h in each of the branches of entry to the roundabout

Signs or notice by the proximity of the intersection

or soundtracks on asphalt, which we define in the next section.

or reflector on the outside shoulder of the intersection to give greater night visibility,

or light Waterfalls in the gazebo.

It is the first time that settle in the town.

It is a sequence of LED bulbs that will illuminate sequentially creating the appearance of rotation around the roundabout and go implemented inside curb it.

For its part, the roundabout to access the A-7 (exit 571) from the UCAM supports a high traffic because the own access to the A-7 from the districts joins the access to college and shopping center La Noria.

It has a longitudinal slope collaborates vehicles accessing it faster than that recommended, causing accidents as usual.

The works consist of:

or Mark the intersection to a maximum speed of 30 km / h

o Attach vertical signs with LED lighting own kind to give greater visibility

Change existing signs or other equal but illuminated by LED also to give greater visibility to the whole of the two signals

o informative level, they will place three rectangular signals to indicate the usual presence of cyclists at the intersection

Install or soundtracks to warn vehicles approaching the intersection to reduce their speed to the new indicated 30 km / h.

or Install reflector on the outside shoulder of the intersection for added nighttime visibility

Install or bright waterfalls in the gazebo

The cost of the first phase of the project has been Mobisec of 111,407.53 euros while the second phase has a budget of 60,497.58 euros, both financed with European funds.

The deadline for execution of works is 2 months from the commencement thereof.

The Mobisec 2012-2015 project is funded by the Directorate General of Transport of the European Commission initiative and its main objective is to achieve a safer for cyclists to have a more efficient and clean urban mobility city.

The Mobisec project started with an idea developed by the City of Murcia, who invited two European cities (Oldham in the UK and Varna in Bulgaria) to participate.

Murcia is the leading partner and interlocutor with the European Commission.

The overall project budget is 1,271,000 euros, allocating more than 500,000 Murcia.

The European Commission is funding the project to 50%.

Other actions implemented through this project has been the creation of the web portal of the Department of Traffic and Transport 'Mutrans' in which routes can be calculated by combining different means of transport between them and with the bike and the mobile app integrating urban mobility tram, bus and bike, among other

NEW ROUNDABOUT ROAD SANTA CATALINA

The Department of Traffic and Transportation, in its policy to improve road safety in the city, also work in this 2015 in a circular gazebo urban new construction to replace current intersection of Avenida El Palmar and Avenida de Santa Catalina which has a morphology of type "T" intersection.

This link is currently regulated by traffic lights.

It is considered more convenient, both for reasons of traffic flow and road safety reasons, replace the existing traffic light regulation by a new two-lane roundabout.

In addition also provides the execution of a branch from the roundabout access to the industrial zone, to properly regulate the entry and exit of vehicles to it that today is done via two fords on sidewalk.

The area affected remodeling is 1.974,90 square meters and have two lanes roundabout four meters, exterior and interior shoulder of 0.25 meters and mountable inside sidewalk of 1.50 meters.

The outer diameter is 32.50 meters.

Furthermore lane width 3.50 meters unify across the road connecting another, creating a painted median separation directions of variable width.

The new roundabout will feature LED lighting type high luminous flux of 12 meters.

Although this project will cost 260,000 euros will not make any investment by the City as it will be entirely borne by the company Verame Perona, SL (Vera Meseguer), being a good example of public-private partnerships.

The direction of the work will be managed Urbamusa and the execution time is four months
