The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Angel House, today deplored the death of Ginés Torrano, one of the great Spanish tenor and one of the most international artists from Murcia.
Ginés Torrano (Murcia, 1929) died yesterday at age 86, after a life dedicated to music.
"Torrano life was in recognition of all Murcia, and thus we demonstrated with the delivery of the distinction as favorite son of Murcia and a street named after him in the neighborhood of Ranero" said House, who is Fitur chairing the delegation representing the municipality in this turísitica fair held in Madrid.
Torrano recently honored at the Romea Theatre in Murcia to mark the 65th anniversary of his debut.
Ginés Torrano Soler was born in Murcia in 1929. In March 1949 he debuted in the Romea Theatre in Murcia at the hands of his master Massotti Littel as principal tenor opera Cavalleria Rusticana in with great success.
In 1952 he moved to Madrid to study at the Royal Conservatory of Music, finishing with the first final degree award unanimously.
In February 1955 he moved to Rome to study with a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, studies coursing hand the world-famous tenor Giacomo Lauri-Volpi.
Since then his performances have been innumerable, both in the most prestigious theaters, radios and televisions around the world.
It was Professor (retired) of Music and Performing Arts on merit, specializing in singing the Conservatories of Music and School of Drama and Dance of Málaga and Murcia.
It has been murciano folklore collector and published a work on traditional music Murcia `Typical Dances Murcia' Region.
Among the many awards that have been granted are:
.- Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise, granted in 1978 by King Juan Carlos I.
Special .- Fine Arts 1997 the Press Association of Murcia Laurel.
.- In 2002, to mark the 140th anniversary of the Romea Theatre, the box No. 6 called Palco Tenor Ginés Torrano.
.- In July 2000 the city of Murcia inaugurated the street Ginés Torrano in recognition of his artistic merits.
.- He was recently named favorite son of the city of Murcia by the City.
