The National Sports Gala will have a significant presence of the Catholic University of Murcia in its list of winners.
The Spanish Sports Press Association issued its annual awards at an event which this year falls on March 2 in the Alicante town of La Nucia.
Mireia Belmonte, swimmer and student of Degree in Advertising and Public Relations of the UCAM, will be one of the awarded.
His six medals at the European Championships in Berlin, the four golds at the World Championships Short Course in Doha and the three world records beaten in 2014 were more than enough to recognize a year arguments.
Among the winners, also highlights the Murcia walker Miguel Angel Lopez, student of Science Degree in Physical Activity and Sport, which was European champion 20 kilometers up in Zurich and has just been voted best Spanish athlete for the third consecutive year.
It will also be in Jennifer Couple gala, laureate with water polo team for gold at the European Championships in Budapest.
Special prize for Pedro Guillen
Chapter deserves the 'Sports Medicine Award' for Doctor Pedro Guillen, honorary dean of the Degree in Medicine UCAM.
His extensive career as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports and its international prestige have not gone unnoticed for Spanish sports journalists who recognize thus a work of several decades of service to athletes.
Recently, Guillen was recognized as the best orthopedic surgeon in Spain according to a study by Merco (Business Monitor of Corporate Reputation).
