An exhibition will review at the University of Murcia's work "The educational missions in Spain (1931-1936)", which opens next Monday, January 12, at 19 pm in the Museum of the University of Murcia.
The exhibition can be visited until February 13th.
The exhibition will be accompanied by theater, concerts and conferences half dozen who will review some of the features of this important cultural initiative in Spain of the Second Republic and the historical context in which it was conducted.
The first lecture will be given the same January 12, at 19 am, by Eugenio Otero Urtaza, professor at the University of Santiago and curator of the exhibition, and will focus on "educational missions and its protagonists".
The Pedagogical Missions Board was created by a decree of the Government of the Second Republic on 29 May 1931. Its main goal was to bring the people, "in preference to those living in rural areas, encouragement of progress and media to participate, in their moral incentives and examples of universal progress, so that all the peoples of Spain, even paragraphs "participate" in the benefits and joys today nobles dedicated to urban centers. "
The missions took the idea developed by Francisco Giner de los Ríos and Manuel Bartolomé Cossio at the Free Institution of Education, which was intended to address the gap that existed between the cities, which enjoyed better access to culture, and the peasantry, oblivious to changes taking place in the world.
