Next Tuesday December 9, at 18 am, will take place in Room Mariano Baquero, Faculty of Arts, the presentation of the book "Evolution of exclusion in the Region of Murcia: Social Impact of the Crisis" published by Editum, Publications Service of the University of Murcia.
The presentation will be given by Manuel Hernandez Pedroza, Director of the Observatory of Social Exclusion (OES);
Conrado Navalón, Director of the Publications Service and mover of OES;
Miguel Angel Perez, Vice Chancellor of Students, Quality and Equality, and José Antonio Gómez Vice President of Communication and Culture.
According to Hernandez Pedroza, director of the publication, "The continuing economic crisis has left a bleak balance in terms of equality and social cohesion in Spain. The decrease in the levels of per capita income, rising unemployment and job insecurity have resulted in an improvement of the situations of poverty and deprivation, spreading the risk of social exclusion to new layers of population and worsening the situation of the traditionally most vulnerable ".
In affirming Hernandez Pedroza, "Of all the systems that make up the Spanish welfare state, the social services is the one most suffering the consequences of the crisis, evidenced through cuts and elimination of services and benefits."
The research highlights the social impact of the economic crisis in terms of social exclusion in the Region of Murcia, Murcia analyzing areas such as population at risk of poverty and social exclusion;
social profiles of users of social support centers or regional social policy.
The study period covers the period 2007-2013, and among the findings highlights the growing problem of exclusion and vulnerability, changing social profiles affected the magnitude of cuts in social policy and adaptation strategies developed by schools social support, which denote a significant change in the pattern of social intervention.
