The doctoral thesis at the University of Murcia for Victor Martinez Javier Lopez, who is police in this city, has conducted a new musical iconography look through the graphic work from the Prado Museum.
The study, which has achieved a rating of outstanding cum laude, is a work organological nearly 2,000 pages associated historical musical instruments, instrumental museums located in all continents, with the Prado painting, all from the perspective of History of Art.
The comparison of the actual sound object preserved, along with the analogous representations made hundreds of years before the first line of painters like Goya, Zurbarán or Rubens, provides only one in the field of Organology methodology.
Another novelty of this research, which was led by Professor of the University of Murcia Joaquin Belchí Canovas, is the implementation of a catalog ordering musical instruments based on their importance and social use, outside the traditional classical chart.
