The University of Murcia has offered a reception in recognition of the researchers leading the institution selected in the program "Young Leaders in Research 2013" from the Seneca Foundation projects today.
In this call, the University of Murcia won 13 of the 17 projects under the program, with the Seneca Foundation supports more than half a million euros to youth in the Region spearheading original and innovative research.
During the event, chaired the rector, José Orihuela in Hermenegildo Castro Lumeras building on the campus of Espinardo, researchers have briefly presented the main lines of their respective projects.
Toni Pérez de los Rios, Faculty of Chemistry, explained a new technology that aims to purify waste water and flue gases and produce electricity simultaneously, nutraceutical compounds and biodiesel, based on methodologies of Green Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
Meanwhile, María José Alcaraz León, Faculty of Philosophy, has analyzed how the aesthetic properties may favor the presence of other values in works of art, everyday objects, in nature, propaganda, pornography or scientific evidence, etc.
Faculty of Mathematics, Michelangelo Javaloyes Victoria has unveiled what is the geometry of pseudo-metrics Finslerianas capable, among other things, to minimize the time in the presence of a current or wind: on a boat crossing a river or a airplane flying in windy.
On the other hand, continuing with mathematics, Sergio Estrada Dominguez has raised what is the algebraic tool to study abstract mathematical objects through their approach to simpler ones, of which more information is available a priori.
Eduardo Laborda Ochando (Chemistry) has entered the audience into the world of small particles, nanoparticles, which are nanoscale particles with applications in diverse areas such as materials or medicinal, and has exhibited his work in developing Models for characterizing these materials by electrochemical techniques.
Zapata Fabiola Fernandez Chemistry also has developed a method of detecting contaminants anions or of biological interest, which uses a new approach consisting in using molecular halogen bridge sensors.
Josua researcher Enrique Fernández Martínez, School of Optometry, presented some advances for the correction of presbyopia, eye strain, through an intraocular lens based optical triplet.
Jiménez María Movilla, Faculty of Medicine, spoke of how fertilization occurs.
Your job is to determine unknown structures responsible for the union of egg and sperm.
Your goal is to test sperm quality without using cells.
José Fernando López Olmeda, Faculty of Biology, has revealed various aspects of biological rhythms in fish reproduction.
The aim of the project is to deepen the understanding of the physiology of reproduction rates and how these findings can be applied to improve captive breeding in aquaculture enterprises.
María Isabel Madrid Mateo (Biology) has explained how some antifungal used clinically in the treatment of fungal infections do not achieve their objective by the resistance exerted by pathogenic fungi.
Your project will seek new molecular targets involved in these resistance mechanisms for more effective and specific therapies.
Faculty of Education, Sebastian Molina Puche has justified the importance of the use of Murcia cultural heritage to improve the teaching of social sciences in high school.
The last exposure, Ramón García Marín, Faculty of Arts, presented a project about the actors who should be involved and strategies that would agree undertaken to revitalize historic heritage of Lorca, trying to give the keys to the city to become in a heritage tourism destination.
Finally, Alberto Ros Bardisa, who leads the "Improving performance and efficiency of multiprocessors on a single chip based on the nature of the data accessed by applications" project, was unable to attend after finding at the University of Uppsala (Sweden ), where he works on the development of more efficient and applicable to any technological device processors.
The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor for Research, Juan Antonio García;
Director General for Research and Innovation of the Autonomous Region and vice president of the Seneca Foundation, Celia Martinez;
Research Coordinator at the University, Emma Martinez, and deans of schools to which researchers belong.
