The Temple of Jeronimos Monastery, the seat of the Catholic University of Murcia, has welcomed this evening the inauguration of the National Conference on Liturgy 2014, organized by the Spanish Episcopal Conference through the Bishops' Commission for Liturgy.

The conference, which this time is being held under the theme "The evangelizing beauty of the liturgy ', will be held on the campus of the UCAM until Friday.

In the opening ceremony, which began with a prayer, have involved the president of the University, José Luis Mendoza;

Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Jose Manuel Lorca Planes;

the bishop of León and president of the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy, Monsignor Julián López;

the bishops of the diocese of Orense, José L. Lemos;

and Orihuela-Alicante, Jesus Murgui;

and director of the Secretariat of the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy, Luis Garcia.

Monsignor Lorca Planes has given the first lecture of the day, in which he has lectured on the evangelizing work of the Church as mission essential and ongoing task.

"Our culture has endeavored to make God in our lives", said and added that "we must foster an encounter with God."

The president of the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy, Monsignor Julián López, stressed during the presentation of the symposium the idea that the "Church evangelizes and evangelizes itself" and the work of the liturgy.

For his part, the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza has highlighted the role of the Eucharist "as the greatest gift that we have Christians," and encouraged young people to know the love of God.
