Exposure'In intimate plegaria' receives more than 2,000 visitors in two weeks (05/10/2014)

A total of 2,023 people have visited the exhibition 'In intimate prayer', organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities in the Monumental San Juan de Dios, in Murcia, which opened last September 18.

The exhibition will remain open until November 30, is composed of 35 pieces of private oratories assigned temporarily by individuals in the region, and including works by such masters as Francisco López Roque Salzillo or meet.

The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, celebrated the success of these first two weeks.

"This response meets one of the goals we set with this exhibition, which was to bring the world of public oratory to spread the wealth of an unknown heritage has remained in private homes for generations and is part of our history and culture, "said Maria Comas.

The exhibition is composed of works that were commissioned by the wealthy for their palaces and mansions and other poorer families, they decorated their homes with Marian devotions and representations of the life of Christ, as well as images of the holy family employers, Guards trades and guilds or brotherhoods.

Among these works, dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, there are pieces of outstanding teachers as Francisco Salzillo, Roque López, Juan Martinez Montanes, Luisa Roldán 'The Roldana'- or Luis Salvador Carmona.

Among the components of 'In intimate prayer', and three exceptions are discussed for the first time to the public, include an Immaculate, a Child Jesus and a Child blessing performed by Salzillo, Christ Crucified Juan Martinez Montanes or child asleep under an apple tree, Luisa Roldán.

The oldest piece is a virgin Neapolitan converted into the eighteenth century Virgin of Fuensanta and he joined a Boy Jesus housed.

Hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 to 13:30 and 17:00 to 20:00, while on Sundays and holidays the hours are only in the morning, from 10:00 to 13:30.
