The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, and the British Ambassador in Spain, Simon Manley, have held this morning a meeting in which they have dealt with various issues related to the group of citizens from the country residing in Murcia.
According to the census of current inhabitants, there are 1,689 people from UK living in the town, compared to 100 in 1996 and contained 931 in 2006.
The meeting, held at the Casino, has served to reiterate the willingness to strengthen cooperation relations between the two.
Simon Manley was director of Europe at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) from 2011 to 2013, assuming responsibility for the policies relating to the EU, UK bilateral relations with its European partners and a network formed by 57 Foreign Affairs European destinations and more than 2,000 employees, before being posted to Spain.
