The Catholic University of Murcia has this morning signed a cooperation agreement with the City of Archena with the aim of contributing to sustainable economic development of the municipality.
The agreement is based on three lines of action, in which both parties cooperate and that other public and private institutions will join: support for training and development of local and university human capital;
collaboration in the development and implementation of Project Smart Archena;
and promoting labor and social insertion of entrepreneurs, the unemployed, and people with disabilities.
Through the development and implementation of the Project Archena Smart, the municipality aims to become the benchmark for smart and sustainable city, through the application of new technologies.
This strategic plan has already along the lines proposed in the 2020 draft and includes performances in the field of energy efficiency, mobility, participation, good governance code, employment, health tourism, trade, environment and municipal efficiency, as enshrined in the projects 'Murcia, free municipality of burocrácticas barriers';
'Murcia, intelligent health tourism destination', 'Murcia, energy efficient town', or the plan for strengthening the traditional trade through the implementation and use of new technologies.
Training
The agreement will allow the UCAM disclose their full academic offerings as well as innovative programs such as the MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) between archenera population.
It also includes providing language training to citizens and businesses of local production, and UCAM students to develop their practices in the municipality or other local entities.
Employability and social inclusion
With regard to labor and social integration, both sides will encourage its development between entrepreneurs, unemployed and disabled;
in addition, promote the practice of sport, and for this, the agreement includes, among other things, the development of social volunteer programs, or undertaking to boost the creation of new productive and existing regeneration.
The agreement was signed by the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, and the mayor of Murcia, Patricia Fernandez, who emphasized the importance of the agreement, and has said "the star project of this agreement is the development of a municipal strategic plan for the positioning of Archena at European level, which will assist the UCAM, especially through Murcia Institute of Technology (ITM).
