The University of Murcia is one of the public entities and companies that have been awarded in the Region of Murcia with the Information Society Awards, which organizes the Socinfo Foundation.

The educational institution recognized for its work in the development of Information Technology and Communication, also attended the announcement with projects "Efficient management of lighting in Smart Cities" and "UMUapp".

The award to the University of Murcia was received by the Vice Chancellor Coordination and Internationalization, Bernardo Cascales, during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
