The rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, participates in the III International Meeting of Rectors of Universia network of Banco Santander, which is currently being held in Rio de Janeiro with the presence of representatives of 1,100 universities from 31 countries.
The meeting was opened by the president of Universia and Banco Santander, Emilio Botin, who said that the meeting of governing has four main objectives: to promote the modernization of the university;
promote internationalization and university innovation and entrepreneurship;
identify the levers to strengthen the role of social leadership of the university and to value its importance as a generator of knowledge and as a lever for economic and social development of countries instrument.
During the conference topics as the interaction between the university and the university community, teaching and research, adaptation to new social trends, taking positions to the new technologies, internationalization strategies and other matters as university funding are addressed .
The Universia network is a project that was born 14 years ago to serve the Latin American university community, which now has 1,290 member universities of the 23 Latin American countries to provide a forum for exchange of knowledge and cooperation of 16.8 million students and teachers.
