The conference last year generated an economic impact of 28.16 million euros (22/07/2014)

Congresses, conventions, conferences and seminars left in 2013 in the town of 28.16 million euros.

Last year was the biggest turnout was in such events and accounted for the assistance of 188,884 people, up 9.3% on 2012, which was 172,799 people.

Councillor for Sport, Youth and Tourism, Miguel Cascales, stressed that a further year demonstrates the commitment of the City of Murcia for congress tourism and efforts to attract more visitors to the town.

During 2013 40 conferences were organized with the participation of 14,885 people;

38 conventions with 5,920 attendees and 635 workshops and seminars with the participation of delegates 168,079.

The average attendance is 265 people per event.

In recent years has been consolidating the trend of holding meetings but with less participation.

Most of these events have been proposed by the private sector (52%), while in the public initiative, 53% was municipal character.

The sectors that are more meetings have generated the economic and commercial (25% of meetings held), cultural (21%) and medical-health (16%).

As for the origin of the participants, 63% were of domestic origin, 32% are from the region of Murcia and 5% are foreigners.

Communities who are most visited Valencia, Andalusia and Madrid.

May, June and November were the months that more meetings were held.

The average expenditure per congressman and day is between 215 euros, for people who stay in four-star hotels, and 190 euros for people staying in three-star hotels.

This expense includes the registration fee, accommodation, meals and other extra expenses such as internal transport, cultural consumption and leisure and shopping.

47% of people who spent the night in Murcia did it in four-star hotels, 8% in a 3 or 2 stars and 45% elsewhere.
