Murcia City Council continues to support associations in defense of the disadvantaged, and the proof is the grants in the last Governing two associations that help people with disabilities and a third support people with hemophilia .
The first of the projects supported, in the Partnership for People with Down Syndrome, ASSIDO, is intended to enhance the independence and autonomy of people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities.
ASSIDO serves 340 users Murcia city, districts and villages near it, that do not have specialized services.
Currently has three centers.
Since 1999, the Department of Social Welfare of the City of Murcia has provided support and collaboration to this entity.
Thanks to the subsidy delivery, 6,500 euros, 145 users with Down syndrome and / or intellectual disabilities aged 5 to 18 enrolled in mainstream primary and secondary education, benefit from this program to enhance their independence.
As for the Federation of Organizations for Persons with Intellectual Disability and Cerebral Palsy, FEAPS-REGION DE MURCIA, is composed of 26 associations that serve approximately 2,700 people with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy, most of the town Murcia from 32 centers that have and integration in the family, at school, at work and in society.
Financial assistance provided to them, 6,500 euros, will serve to leisure activities and integration, among which a meeting of associative dynamism, a seminar readable;
coexistence of people with disabilities living in residential facilities and training of responsible volunteer.
Moreover, the City supports a grant of 6,500 euros to the Murcia Regional Hemophilia Association, one of the most historic associations in the relationship with the City of Murcia entities disabled.
Physiotherapy is one of the pillars in this community about the impact of the disease in the musculoskeletal system.
This project will allow an individualized treatment based on the needs of each person.
It will take place at the headquarters of the association and the registered users.
The number of beneficiaries is 99 people, with the possibility of new cases throughout the year.
By 2014, under the agreement with the city of Murcia, the Murcia Regional Hemophilia Association receives financial contributions in order to continue developing its work plan, which includes psychosocial support and prevention and improved treatment articular functionality and XXV Hemophilia Hemophilia Training workshops aimed at children between 8 and 12 years, among others.
