The mayor Andrea Garries present a motion proposing the municipal PP to launch a series of concrete initiatives promoting cultural and tourism to diversify the local economy and end the image of 'ghost town' which offers summer Murcia
The Socialist councilor Andrea Garries will defend in plenary on Thursday an initiative to launch a summer plan that enhances tourism in Murcia during the summer months.
"We need a strategic plan and a firm commitment to tourism from regional and local political arena," insists Garries, who recalled that, since the beginning of the term, the Socialist Group has launched proposals in this regard that "have never been considered by the Government of La Glorieta ".
Activities
A series of actions continues the PSOE mayor-operating for some time in other tourist destinations and we have not been able to launch here, among which are the opening hours of museums, night tours, theatrical tours, establishment of a specific cultural program for the months of July and August, performances by local groups in public places, relaunch Huerta potential as a tourist attraction, summer theaters in districts, easy access to tourists make other night in Murcia nearby locations, among many others.
In this sense, Garries recalls another proposal that members of the tourist industry to the Socialist Group moved a few days ago.
This is the launch of a theater festival in a foreign language that could accommodate the municipal theaters (Romea, Circus and Bernal) and that during the months of July and August have no programming.
Pilot
"Murcia has a rich tourism potential and high temperatures can not play against us," the Socialist councilor, who will request the local government to start drafting a draft activities that could begin to take place this summer as pilot project for next year that we could already launch in coordination with different responsible councils, industry members and political groups represented at City Hall-a full summer Plan of tourism, culture and livability for our town.
