The Catholic University of Murcia and the Foundation of the Spanish Society of Primary Care Physicians (SEMERGEN) have signed a collaboration agreement for the creation of the University Chair for 'Family Practice'.
The agreement will allow, through the Chair, performance in teaching, research, and transfer of results of research activities on specific issues related to primary health care, community care, public health, or other areas considered interest in the field of primary care.
Also of note is the same objectives, developing training programs, teachers teach students the ins field of health;
conducting teaching and research practices by students;
promoting technology transfer to facilitate access to the labor market under competitive conditions, or seminars or workshops of interest.
The agreement was signed by the presidents of both institutions, José Luis Mendoza and José Luis Llisterri, who were accompanied by the Vice President for Research at the University, Estrella Nunez;
Vice President of the Company, Rafael Mico;
the Dean of the Bachelor of Medicine, Jerome Lajara and SEMERGEN members.
Also during the ceremony, the director of the Department of Cardiovascular Risk Jose Abellan, claimed the need to give prominence to the teaching of Primary Care in Family and Community Medicine, through the degree in Medicine.
"The vast majority of students in this grade will compete for places primary care, and this has always been the 'Cinderella' in the training plans of Medicine", said, and added that to have a chair like this, "directing both pre-and postgraduate training, "is a guarantee.
Meanwhile, Rafael Mico has highlighted the importance of patient-provider pair, "very much in the Chair";
and noted as one of the initiatives that will begin a focused course in the eye area.
