Murcia, like other Spanish cities, has begun a one way trip to the smart city, a transformation that will "make life easier for everyone and promoting sustainable development through new technologies."
With these words has begun the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, speaking at the inauguration of the First Day: "Smart Cities: Opportunities for Environmental Innovation" that was organized by the city of Murcia, develops today and tomorrow at the salon acts of CAM.
In the opening ceremony have also participated the Government Commissioner, Joaquín Bascuñana, President of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, Miguel Ángel Ródenas, the rectors of the UMU, José Orihuela, UPCT Jose Antonio Franco, and UCAM Josefina Garcia, plus the Councillor for the Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache.
The event, which brings together some of the most authoritative voices in the country to reflect on the present and future of the local environment, which necessarily involves promoting sustainable urban development.
The conference offered two days to exchange experiences and learn from each other to better fulfill our public service remit.
"Citizens have a framework of comprehensive and sufficiently utility Consolidated-assured Camera-and now is the time to offer them also fashion" more efficient, cheaper and more effective, and the way to do that is transforming our cities into "smart cities."
For this, the Mayor committed to implement the d new technologies in all areas of urban development: transportation, lighting, parks, energy efficiency of the building, water and sanitation, control and irrigation management in parks and gardens etc..
The mayor, who was convinced that encourage innovation "is essential for success", has also warned that cities "can not and should innovate alone, but have to create appropriate frameworks for entrepreneurs and private companies to invest in innovation, "not to mention the participation of universities to take advantage of" the next technological quarry. Some of the technologies and projects Smartcities of Murcia have been an example of good practice within the different working groups of the Network of Smart Cities of Spain are implementing the Control Centre Street lights, the Smart Closed Cycle Network, the Project SMARTSPACES or Municipal Green Line.
