The Hall of the Catholic University of Murcia has welcomed this evening the act of imposition of scholarships and award diplomas to students in the first class of Own Degree College of Business and Socio-Technical Activities (Capacitas).
This is one of the initiatives undertaken by the Chair 'Montoro German' for the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities, created by UCAM and Gmp Foundation.
Note that the Catholic is the second university in Spain in training and labor insertion of young people with intellectual disabilities.
The ceremony involved the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza;
the rector of the University, Josefina García Lozano;
Director of the Chair, Maria del Mar Pintado, and president of the Foundation, Gloria German, who has acted as godmother to the new graduates.
Alumna Ana Alcazar Bernal has been in charge of reading the speech of students representing their peers;
words that have been plagued by passing messages, pride, gratitude, training, friendship and fellowship, and have moved to the attendees, concluding that "Capacitas is like touching the sky with my hands."
UCAM President, José Luis Mendoza said that a title means nothing "if it does not the qualities that have been acquired, and you have shown the".
It has also announced that the University will hire two new graduates to work in the Campus;
and a third which shall operate at Colegio San Vicente de Paul;
while assured that the institution will also launch refresher courses for these students.
During his speech he said that "you are a living manifestation of the beauty of God's love."
Placements
The twelve students this afternoon have graduated, they have not only trained in the Campus Jeronimos, but have also done internships for months in companies and organizations in the region as the city of Murcia, Novotel, Bankinter, Eulen Cartagena, the El Mirador Infant School and St. Peter the Apostle school, Santa María del Carmen and San Vicente de Paul, as well as on the premises of the University.
And seeks his immersion in the world of business through practices, with the aim of entering the labor world.
Capacitas
The Capacitas program, which runs for two academic years, began in 2012 with a dozen students, a number that has doubled this year.
The objectives of this program are diverse, such as research, awareness of employers or job prospecting, and therefore has a large number of teachers in the fields of education and psychology.
