The Cabinet has approved the appointment of José Orihuela Calatayud as rector of the University of Murcia (UMU).
In accordance with the constitution and the electoral law of the educational institution, Orihuela was elected rector of the UMU on 9 April.
José Orihuela is Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Murcia since 1991, where he received his doctorate in 1984.
Under this legislation, the rector must be chosen from officials in the body of university professors serving, and shall be appointed by the appropriate body of the Community, a procedure that is completed today.
