The Ramón Gaya Museum open until 1:30 on Friday night and Saturday to commemorate and "Night of Museums", an initiative created by the museums of France and supported by the Council of Europe welcomes Murcia for the tenth consecutive year.

The Night of Museums is a fun and free event aims to attract new audiences through programming designed especially for the event: brought to light, musical, theatrical and literary representations, unpublished, ephemeral and contemporary creations, overnight, dialogue with the permanent collection.
This is an initiative designed to attract the public to museums around the International Museum Day, which falls on May 18 this year, with the theme "Museums: Collections create connections."
The theme relates to the role of rapporteurs of cultural heritage and collective memory of a community holding museums, contributing significantly to the development of society fashion, linking visitors to the different types of collections.
It also emphasizes collaborations between museums around the world and its importance to cultural exchanges and knowledge of world cultures.
In 1977, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) established International Museum Day to raise public awareness about the role of museums in developing society.
Since then, the event has benefited from growing popularity.
In 2012, the International Museum Day attracted a record participation of 32,000 museums hosting events in more than 129 countries.

"The Night of Museums" takes place in collaboration with Iberdrola, sole sponsor of the event in the ten years that has been organized.
